Uh oh. It’s that time of year again. The holidays are just around the corner, and your kids are very excited for some time off school, but they sure do expect the world of you when it comes to going away somewhere for an exciting break. You might be panicking a little bit at this point, especially if you’re not sure that any of your holiday ideas will excite your children, but there are easy ways to mix things up and ensure your kids not only have a fun experience, but an entirely unique experience when the school break arrives. Here are some unique ways in which you might spend your holidays with the kids.

Teach the little ones about travel first.
If you want to give your children a unique holiday experience, maybe you could switch things up a bit before you go away or perhaps whilst you’re journeying off to a foreign land. It’s easy to drag our kids off to Paris and demand that they enjoy themselves simply because it’s a holiday, but the young mind is a fickle and foreign entity in itself. Sometimes you have to be a little more proactive in your approach because a young mind is growing and impressionable; it wants to be challenged. That’s why your trip to Paris should be about more than the Eiffel Tower and delicious food; you should teach them about France through travel-related books or fun apps which can teach them about the country.
Bring a slice of home for backup.
You could keep them entertained and pumped for the journey ahead with an app such as ShowBox for iPhone to keep them occupied with a film or some form of entertainment even when on the move. Kids aren’t always as thrilled by every element of a new adventure as you’d want them to be, and you need to find ways to distract them from the more “boring” elements of travelling. Patience isn’t always a virtue your little ones can grasp at a young age, and I’m sure we all remember that from being young ourselves. Still, with the advancements of the modern age, there’s no reason that you can’t bring some creature comforts with you all over the world, and your kids can feel “at home” even when home is very far away. Holidays are only limited by what you want them to be.

Of course, you don’t have to go abroad at all to give your children an exciting and unique holiday if you don’t want to or you can’t. If you get a little creative, you could take your children to fun facilities in your local area which they don’t get the opportunity to use during school time. It’s about giving your kids a fun and exciting experience, and nothing is more unique that a trip to a rock climbing center, a trampoline park or numerous other wacky indoor facilities which will inspire and entertain your children.
The other great part about staying local is that your kid can spend a little of their holiday finally cleaning their room. If they really want something unique to do during their time off school, this would certainly be a unique sight for all to behold. Of course, you might want to offer some sort of treat or reward at the end of this chore.
