One of the biggest challenges for parents of young children is getting them to eat! At least, that was one of my moms most frustrating issues with me. My diet consisted of mashed potatoes and pasta with butter for the first 12 years of my life! I was underweight and refused to eat when and what I was supposed to. But, I can remember getting a special care bears plate and cup which got me excited to eat when I finally gave in.
Getting your kids to eat has been an issue for parents for a LONG time and there is not enough time these days flying spoons with sound effects at every meal.
I honestly believe that if you can somehow make eating fun, kids are much more likely to do it and even try new things.
I found this awesome company from my home state, Michigan, that has come up with a product line to help with this and make eating fun! It’s called Constructive Eating.
I have a boy, so they sent me their construction set above. There is a placemat, a stuffed bulldozer, a plate, and a utensil set. The utensils come with a fork, a spoon, and a pusher. A pusher helps the child gather their food onto the fork or spoon without using their hands, much like we do with our knives. Children can pretend they are bulldozing and play with their food while eating but most importantly, be excited about getting to plate clean and into their bellies!
There is a place designated for the position of the utensils on the placemat which helps with table setting skills in the future.
There is also a position built into the sectioned off plate for each of the utensils to park.
I think the product is brilliant! Even my 10 year old son, who is very much still into cars, loves this product!
Constructive Eating also has a more feminine set of gardening tool utensils and matching plate with the same concept. Check them out HERE.
All materials used in these products are FDA approved, BPA Free, PVC Free, Lead Free and Phthalate Free. No Paints are used on the products. Dishwasher Safe. And, MADE IN THE USA!!!! Have won several awards and I see why!
